Qualsafe, Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care Requalification, 3 Days
Who is this qualification for:
The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care Requalification (RQF) is designed for those holding Level 3 First Response Emergency Care qualifications to update their knowledge.
Among the first to arrive at a scene, First Responders typically include Police Officers, Firefighters, Emergency Medical Services and Search and Rescue Personnel.
FREC® 3 meets the staffing requirements detailed in the ‘Purple Guide’ for Health, Safety, and Welfare at Outdoor Events and is the only Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCS Ed) – Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care (FPHC) endorsed qualification listed in the ‘Purple Guide’ at PHEM D. It also adheres to the standards agreed by the First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum (FAAOF) and the Health and Safety Executive for first aid qualifications.
Ideal for those providing event medical cover or roles such as Door Supervisors, Close Protection Operatives and Security Guards, as well as those working in high-risk environments including the military, power stations, offshore renewable energy, agriculture and manufacturing settings.
For those with further ambitions, this qualification also forms the first step towards a career in prehospital care.
Learners must already hold a Level 3 First Response Emergency Care qualification to take this course.

Operational readiness and human factors
Emergency services capabilities
Structured patient assessment
Mechanism of injury and incident
Life threatening bleeding control
Airway management and emergency oxygen
Breathing difficulties (trauma and medical)
Prehospital trauma care
Prehospital emergency medical care
Responding to changes in risk and/or threat
Primary triage (Ten Second Triage) and lifesaving interventions
Moving and handling: in an emergency and assisting a clinician
Recording assessment findings
Environmental exposure
Immersion and submersion incidents
Adult, child and infant BLS and AED usage
How long will it take:
To complete this qualification learners are expected to undertake approximately 21 hours of learning.
Assessment Method:
This qualification is assessed by practical assessment, and multiple choice question exam.
