This qualification is designed for those learners wishing to apply for a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a CCTV Operator in Public Space Surveillance. This qualification is based on the relevant SIA specification for learning and qualifications and is supported by Skills for Security, the standards setting body for the security industry and the SIA, which regulates the private security industry. In order to obtain an SIA licence you will need to show that you are trained to the right level. This applies to front line staff only.

* If you already have some form of UK qualification in CCTV operation it may mean that you are exempt from all or part of the SIA approved training. *

Core Learning for Common Security Industry Knowledge (10 hours)

•Awareness of the Law in the Private Security Industry

•Health and Safety for the Private Security Operative

•Fire Safety Awareness

•Emergency Procedures

•Communication Skills and Customer Care

CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance) Specialist Module (22 hours)

•Introduction to the Roles and Responsibilities of the CCTV Operator and other CCTV Staff

•Codes of Practice, Operational Procedures and Guidelines

•CCTV Equipment and its Operation

•Control Room Communications and Access Control

•Legislation

•Dealing with Incidents

•CCTV Surveillance Techniques

•Emergency Procedures in the CCTV Control Room

•Health and Safety at Work in the CCTV Environment
